Breaking: Ikpeazu’s Chief of staff wins Abia PDP gov primary

The Chief Of Staff to the governor of Abia State, Okey Ahaiwe, has emerged as the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party for the March 11 governorship election in the state.

Ahaiwe polled a total of 469 votes to defeat the four other aspirants in a keenly contested election held at the Umuahia Township Stadium, the state capital.

The other aspirants defeated were the deputy governor of the state, Udo Chukwu, Lucky Igbokwe, Emma Nwaka and Sampson Orji.

A total number of 516 votes were cast during the exercise with 12 votes declared invalid.

 A former Commissioner for Works, Bob Ogu, business man, Eric Opia and the female candidate earlier stepped down Ahaiwe.

The chairman of the Abia PDP special convention and governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, announced the results.
