See what police said about razing of country home of Imo PDP assembly candidate

The Imo State police command has spoken for the first time about the razing of the country home of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Okigwe Local Government Area for the state house of Assembly election, Ifeanyi Ozoemena.

Gunmen had on Tuesday razed Ozoemena’s house and that of his aged father’s at Umulolo community.

The spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, who confirmed the attack said that investigation had began into the arson case.

While speaking to Okeomanews, Okoyo said “in the early hours of today 08/03/2023, information received that armed men in large numbers suspected to be the Proscribed IPOB and  it’s armed militia ESN disgruntled elements invaded the house of the PDP Candidate contesting for Imo State House of Assembly, Okigwe Constituency, Engr Ifeanyi A. Odemelam ‘m’ at Umuokparaocha village Umuolo Okigwe, threw locally made Petro Bombs on the roof of his house and set it ablaze. 

“In receipt of this information, DPO Okigwe led an operational team and swifty mobilised to the scene, the miscreants that perpetrated the heinous crime had escaped, the fire expanded into an inferno and the building razed down. 

“Intensive patrol is ongoing in the area with the aim of arresting the perpetrators of this dastardly act and bringing them to face the full wrath of the law. The Command is on top of the situation, normalcy have been restored in the area, the entire Okigwe is under close monitoring with the aim of nipping in bud any on toward situation.

“The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde psc(+) while empathizing with the victim for the serious damage done on his house, has ordered a discrete investigation into the case and encouraged the law abiding resident not to Panic as patrol have been intesified in Okigwe, he urged them not to relent in giving timely and useful information that may assist the Police in arresting the fleeing suspects. 

“Moreso, he admonished them to report any abnormal occurrence or suspicious person seen in their vicinity via the command emergency line: 08034773600 or 08098880197.”
