Ohakim canvases support for APC candidates

by OkeomaNews

A former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, has solicited support for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the next month’s elections.

Ohakim who spoke in his Owerri residence when leaders of APC in his Local Government Area, Isiala Mbano, paid him a visit after gunmen on January 2 attacked his convey and killed four of his security aides, said that the ruling party must work hard to win the next month’s general elections.

Ohakim who asked for a minute silence in honour of the slain cops, said but God himself and his two children who were with him during the attack would have been in the morgue by now.

The ex governor also called for prayers and support for the governor of the state, Hope Uzodimma.

Ohakim, while assuring that himself and family will not abandon the families of the slain cops, announced that the state government had undertaken to pay compensations for the dead security officers.

He advised his kinsmen to stop pulling down their people who were established in politics.

The ex governor chronicled how people from Okigwe zone where he hails from wrote a petition against him to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after he left office as governor.

Ohakim said that the petition kept him in courts for nine years, adding that he was surprised that ” my brothers from the same Okigwe zone are the ones always seeking to pull me down by all means.”

Ohakim immediately inaugurated the leadership and members of Presidential Campaign Council of APC in the Isiala Mbano LGA and charged them to ensure that APC wins.

He stressed that if APC wins, it would boost Uzodimma’s reelection bid as the governor of the state.

He said ” I, my first son and last born would have been in the mortuary by now if not by the grace of God. In that attack I unfortunately lost four of my boys. We have been able to airlift them to their various states and the Imo State government has undertaken the process for the payments of compensations to their families. As a family, we will not abandon their families. These were fine officers who would have risen to senior officers in the future but they have been cut off in their prime.”
