APC, Labour Party win Imo senate elections as PDP loses out

All Progressives Congress has been declared the winner of two out of the three senatorial district elections held in Imo State last Saturday.

Labour Party won one seat as the main opposition party in the state, Peoples Democratic Party failed to clinch any of the senatorial districts.

According to the Independent National Electoral commission, APC won in Imo North ( Okigwe zone) and Imo west ( Orlu zone) senatorial districts, respectively.

A former senator, Osita Izunaso won the Imo west ( Orlu zone) senatorial district election.

He was declared the winner of the election with 78, 349 votes while his closest rival, Charles Ahizu of the Labour Party got 37,029 votes.

For Imo East, (Owerri zone), senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi of the LP was returned elected after he polled 100,631 votes while Uche Onyeagocha of the PDP scored 87, 229 votes.

A former lawmaker, Patrick Ndubueze of the APC was declared the winner of Imo North ( Okigwe zone) senatorial district election.

OkeomaNews reports that this is the first time since 1999 PDP has failed to win any senatorial seat in the state.
