Just in: Ihedioha, Imo seek postponement of Police invitation over murder case

The immediate past governor of Imo State and the spokesperson of Coalition of United Political Parties, and reps member elect, Ugochinyere Imo, has asked the state police command to differ its invitation till Tuesday next week.

The police in the state had on Monday invited Ihedioha, Imo and the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Gerald Irona, to the state Intelligence Bureau of the command over kidnap, murder and arson case.

The invitation letter which was addressed to chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, Charles Ugwu, was written by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, Ukachi Opara read ” the office of State Intelligence Bureau, Imo state police command, state headquarters Owerri, is investigating the above underlined case involving some prominent members of Peoples Democratic Party, Imo state chapter.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo state command requests you come along with the following persons, Emeka Ihedioha, Ugochinyere Ikenga Imo, Gerald Irona, to interview the commissioner of police, through the officer in charge of State Intelligence Bureau, Owerri date

 Thursday, 16th March , 2023, time 10:00 prompt.”

But our correspondent who visited the SIB unit of the command on Thursday observed that Ihedioha and Imo didn’t honour the invitation.

On inquiry, our correspondent was told that the due asked that the invitation be differed til Tuesday.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, said that the suspects wrote to the police demanding that the police invite be shifted till Tuesday next week.

He said ” they wrote to us requesting that the invitation be differed till Tuesday after the elections. The new date is now Tuesday.”

Okeomanews reports that Irona is being held at the Owerri prison after he was remanded last Thursday following his arraignment by the police before an Owerri magistrate’s court on a three count charge bordering on treason.

This is what nobility and humility is all about.
Ihedioha and Ikenga Imo have really shown that they are on the side of the law and not law breakers.
Their humility in honouring this faulty and fratricidal invitation goes a long way to telling Ndi Imo that, “Onye aka ya di ocha, egwu anaghi atu ya”.
