As the Nigeria Labour Congress protests over economic hardships nationwide today and tomorrow, the Imo State Police Commissioner,  Aboki Danjuma, has deplored officers and men of the command across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye disclosed in a brief statement on Tuesday in Owerri, the state capital, that the essence of the deployment of the cops was to ensure that the peaceful protest is not hijacked by criminals.

He said that the police were ready to forestall any breakdown of the law and order and deal ruthlessly with the bad elements.

Okoye wrote “massive deployment of security operatives across the State to ensure that the ongoing NLC Peaceful demonstrations is not hijacked by criminally minded elements.

” The Command remains committed to providing maximum security for all and sundry in the State while upholding the rule of law and respecting the rights of citizens.”
