Confusion in Ikeduru PDP as apex leader, Unachukwu resigns

There is political confusion in the Ikeduru chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State following the resignation of its apex leader, Hon Bon Unachukwu resigned from the party.

Unachukwu’s resignation letter was was addressed the PDP ward chairman in Atta ward 1 dated October 8 was sighted by our correspondent in Owerri on Tuesday.

The letter titled ” resignation as a member of a Peoples Democratic Party” read ” in the past six months I have been reviewing my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party no longer provides me the desired platform to continue to pursue my political aspirations.

“Consequently, I hereby tender my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic of Nigeria with effect from Monday October 9, 2023.

“During my membership of the party from 1999, I had the privilege of serving the party in various enviable positions for which I remain grateful.”

Briefing journalists in Owerri, the state capital on Tuesday, Unachukwu who served as the Owerri zone chairman of the PDP as the state commissioner for lands, Survey and Physical Planning, said that the manner in which the party’s Governorship primary was held in 2023 was unacceptable.

He said that he had expected the PDP to gives its governorship ticket to Emeka Ihedioha for the November 11 governorship election in the state.

Unachukwu said that he was leaving the party with his supporters, adding that he is now ready to support any other governorship candidate of his choice.
