Apprehend gunmen who attacked me, killed my orderlies, Ohakim tells IGP

A former governor of Imo state, Ikedi Ohakim, on Sunday asked the inspector General of police Usman Alkali to arrest those who attacked his convey on January 2 and killed four of his orderlies in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state.

Ohakim in a message of appreciation he personally issued demanded immediate solution to rising insecurity in the country.

Describing the attack as a clear case of attempted assassination on him and two of his two children who were with him as of the time of the attack, the ex governor said that he had remind in shock since after the attack.

Mourning the killing of his four orderlies, Ohakim promised not to abandon their families.

He said he was going to everything possible to support the families of the slain cops who died protecting his life and that of his two children who rode with him.

Part of the statement read ” as I write this message, my heart bleeds but of course no length or volume of literature can sufficiently express the pain and hurt this is going on right deep inside me.

“These were young men at the prime of their youth and career and for whom the future held quite a lot. The circumstances of their death is yet another very sad commentary on our collective existence as a people but as a person and as a family, it is a personal loss.

“I am encouraged however by the fact that security agents in Imo state in particular have posted a few impressive performances in the recent past and I believe that together with the proven determination of the state governor in dealing with the matter of insecurity, it is only a matter of time for those behind that dastardly act to be fished out.

” On our part, my family will do everything humanly possible to ensure that though their losses are irreparable, those left behind by the gallant late officers do not suffer untold hardship. May the good Lord grant their souls eternal rest.”
