Breaking,:Gunmen attack govt official, snatch riffles from policemen

Some yet – to- be identified gunmen on Thursday snatched two riffles from a team of policemen in Aba, the commercial capital of Abia State.

The attack took place at Faulks road by Osusu junction in Aba North local government area of the state.

The policemen, Okeomanews gathered were attacked by the criminals who operated in a tricycle while they ( policemen) were on a stop -and -search operation in the area.

Residents and shop owners in the area disclosed that the incident forced them to close shops abruptly to avoid being caught in the web of the melee.

The State Command Public Relations, Geoffrey Ogbonna could not pick his calls and was yet to reply the text message sent to his mobile phone at the time of filing the report.

Meanwhile, the governor of the state,  Okezie Ikpeazu has approved the imposition of immediate ban on the operational hours of commercial tricycle operators in the state.

Ikpeazu in a statement issued Thursday afternoon by the Secretary to the State Government  Chris Ezem said that the ban on Keke operation starts from 7pm to 6am daily till further notice.

Ikpeazu who cited the current rise in crime wave in the state reportedly committed by hoodlums operating in commercial tricycles, directed security agencies in the state to arrest, detain and prosecute offenders.

“Following incessant report on rising wave of crime perpetrated by some unpatriotic tricycle (KEKE) operators in the State.

“The Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D has approved the immediate ban on KEKE operation in the State from 7pm to 6am daily till further notice.

“Security Agencies in the State are to arrest, detain and prosecute defaulters.”

Also, a former Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Abia State, Godwin Adindu has been attacked by gunmen.

 Adindu Adindu who confirmed the incident in a brief statement he issued said Jesus saved him.

 He wrote “Jesus took it all.

“Eight bullets shot at close range. Jesus took it all. No drop of blood.Having recovered from the shock, may I now ask, WHO WANTS ADINDU DEAD?.

“Haven’t I been haunted and hunted enough?.Abia Police over to you.”

This is too bad and what causes all these is lack of fear of God. This evil can stop only if one acknowledges God and allows God to take control of one’s life. May God deliver us from evil…
