The governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, is set to emerge the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, unchallenged, Okeomanews can authoritatively report.
Sources in the state Government House and within the ranks of the party in the state, said that no member of the party is interested in challenging the ticket of the party for the November 11, governorship election in the state with the governor.
The sources added that given the governor’s desire to seek a reelection, all those in the party who had wanted to aspire to rule the state had abandoned their ambitions waiting for when the governor might had finishing serving a second term in office in 2028.
One of the sources who pleaded not to be mentioned said” as a sign of respect to the governor, nobody is going to contesting the APC governorship ticket with him. The primary election which comes up second week of April will be used by all members of the party in the state to rectify his candidacy.
“We don’t want to be distracted by little things. We want the primary election thing to be settled quickly so that we will fully concentrate on the general election.
“The governor has done well. Nobody is ready to vie the ticket of the party with him. It was not a general decision but as I speak to you nobody else has purchased the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress for Imo State governorship primary. It is mostly certain that the governor will emerge the governorship candidate of the party unopposed.”
