The member representing Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of representatives, Henry Nwawuba, will officially join the All Progressives Congress this Saturday, Okeomanews can authoritatively report.
Nwawuba, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance for the just concluded Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru Federal Constituency election will officially be joining APC at a ceremony he will be hosting in his federal constituency.
A member of his campaign team, confided in Okeomanews that the two times House of representatives member had perfected his defection plan.
He said that Nwawuba had called a meeting of his political structure and informed them of his decision to defect to the ruling APC.
The source said that though his political associates were surprised at his decision but there were those who agreed to join him in his new party.
Okeomanews further gathered that Nwawuba was convinced to join APC by his political ally and the speaker of the House of representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The source said ” Henry Nwawuba will be joining APC on Saturday. His friend who is the Speaker of the House of representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila convinced him to take the political decision.
“You know Femi is going to be the Chief Of Staff to the incoming president, Ahmed Tinubu so Nwawuba was advised to join APC before he is sworn in hence he has lost his bid to return to the House of representatives for the third term.
“A meeting was held where he agreed to step down for the APC candidate, Akarachi Amadi, who eventually won the Mbaitoli/ Ikeduru House of representatives election. Femi promised to help him get a political appointment from the presidency, hence his defection this Saturday.”
His spokesperson, Austin Egejuru, had yet to respond to an inquiry concerning his principal’s planned defection to the APC.
