The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State has dissolved the Ignatius Nlem-led State Working Committee (SWC) and inaugurated a new leadership following allegations of gross anti-party activities during the recent off-cycle Governorship Election held on November 11, 2023.
The party, through a statement disclosed by the National Vice Chairman South East, Chilos Godsent in Owerri, confirmed the dissolution of the former SWC, led by Ignatius Nlem, citing their involvement in activities deemed contrary to the party’s objectives during the election.
The ADC unveiled the new State Working Committee (SWC) members and tasked them with repositioning the party in Imo State for a resounding victory in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The newly constituted State Working Committee (SWC) includes Chief Dr. Amushie Emmanuel as the State Chairman, Hon. Amadi Chidi as the State Deputy Chairman, Okoro Charles as the State Secretary, Mrs. Ijeoma Egocha as the State Treasurer, and Hon. Justice Ugochukwu as the State Financial Secretary. Other members are Mr. Oparaugo Emmanuel (State Publicity Secretary), Deacon Jacob Onuigbo (State Organizing Secretary), Mrs. Loveth Emedo (State Auditor), Iroh Lazarus Iheanacho (State Legal Adviser), Lolo Ngozi Nwosu (State Women Leader), Comrade Edih Chidiebere (State Youth Leader), Chief Charles Nwosu (State Vice Chairman Okigwe Zone), Chief Onukaogu Paschal (State Vice Chairman Owerri Zone), and Mazi Nnamdi Aguguo (State Vice Chairman Orlu Zone).
Chief Dr. Amushie Emmanuel, the new State Chairman of ADC in Imo State, expressed unwavering commitment to collaborate with his team towards securing electoral victories for ADC in future elections within Imo State.
Emmanuel said ADC’s determination to utilise political and legal means to compel the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) to conduct Local Government Council Elections in the state before June 2024 concludes.
He further stressed that as the primary opposition party in Imo State, ADC is dedicated to advocating Participatory Democracy and fostering Good Governance in the state.
