The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Osita Izunaso, has been declared the winner of the Imo west senatorial district election.
Izunaso scored a total of 78, 349 votes to defeat his closest rival, Charles Ahizu, of the Labour Party who polled a total of 37, 029 votes.
The retuning officer, Casimir Akaolisa, said that the APC candidate met the requirements of the law to be returned.
Izunaso was first elected as a senator in 2007.
He lost his bid to return to the red chamber in 2011, after losing the primary election of the People Democratic Party to Hope Uzodimma, who is currently the governor of the state.
